In Longquan, a county-level city in Lishui, Zhejiang province, 60 international artists in residence, local young artists, and students from Lishui Vocational and Technical College participated in a celadon art co-creation activity from Feb 22 to 23.

At the event, artists meticulously carved celadon designs on clay slabs. Under their skillful hands, intricate patterns of fields, mountains, portraits, and various flora and fauna emerged. The artists expressed excitement about the opportunity to create together.

Wongil Jeon, a South Korean visual artist participating in celadon designs for the first time, shared his enthusiasm for the event. He said it was a wonderful experience and that he learned a lot from others.

Last October, the first "Longquan Exchange, Global Creation" celadon art co-creation activity by Chinese and foreign artists kicked off in Longquan, with 130 international artists and 40 local celadon craftsmen participating.

This event was the second co-creation activity, aiming to produce around 100 porcelain slabs.

Once enough slabs are collected, they will undergo adjusting, glazing, and firing. By May, these pieces will be assembled into a 6-meter-long, 4-meter-wide, and 3-meter-high "Longquan Celadon House" art installation.

Back in 2009, the Longquan celadon's traditional firing techniques were officially added to the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
