In the Qingtian Import Commodity City, located in Qingtian county, Lishui, Zhejiang province, shelves in its supermarkets are stocked with a wide variety of imported goods.
Qingtian is famous for being the hometown of over 381,000 overseas Chinese across more than 146 countries and regions.
Qingtian is evolving from simply importing to becoming a trade hub for both imports and exports, fostering a new dynamic of two-way trade development.
For overseas goods, Qingtian has established bonded warehouses and platforms such as the Qingtian Import Commodity City and the Qingtian World Wine Center.
Zhu Wenhao, head of Qingtian Import Commodity City Bonded Warehouse Co, said that the company handled 415 batches of goods last year, with a total value of $36.38 million, and the variety of imported goods continues to expand.
Qingtian has also been promoting local goods to go global. Last year, Qianxia Lake fish heads joined Qingtian bayberries and brown sugar as another popular agricultural product to be exported overseas.
"Last year, we achieved an annual agricultural export trade value of 159 million yuan ($21.86 million)," said Hong Xuwei, deputy general manager of Qingtian County Qiaoxiang Agricultural Development Co.
