Lishui red bayberries reach Singapore in just 17 hours
The first batch of Qingtian red bayberries made a rapid 17-hour journey from Qingtian county in Lishui, East China's Zhejiang province, to Singapore on May 28.
In Qingtian's Baipu village, skilled farmers carefully picked the red bayberries, ensuring that only the best ones reached the market. Samples were sent to customs for testing before harvest, which confirmed that they met export standards. The freshly picked red bayberries were then processed at a certified facility, where they underwent cooling, sorting, and packaging.
"This is the first batch of exports this year, totaling 60 kilograms and 20 boxes. From Hangzhou in Zhejiang to Singapore, it takes about five hours," said Wu Huaqiang, foreign trade manager at Qingtian Zhongzhi Products Trading Company. The red bayberries are priced at 39.5 Singapore dollars per kilogram, or approximately 221.2 yuan ($31) per kg.

The key to successful export is freshness. Previously, shipments had to go through Shanghai airports. This year, thanks to coordination with Lishui Customs, Qingtian red bayberries gained clearance at Hangzhou Xiaoshan Airport, speeding up the process.
The journey involved two hours for picking, two for processing, four for cold chain transport, four for airport handling, and five for the flight to Singapore, totaling just 17 hours.
The export of Qingtian red bayberries has increased in recent years, showing their exceptional quality and competitiveness.
