Liu Xiaying, a cultural specialist from Jinyun county of Lishui, Zhejiang province, brought the intangible cultural heritage art of Jinyun paper-cutting to Malta for the Fond Impression of Jiangnan Zhejiang ICH exhibition on Sept 19.

Through her works, demonstrations of techniques, and interactive sessions, Liu connected traditional Chinese culture with international exchange.

As a cultural specialist dedicated to preserving local traditions, Liu presented pieces inspired by Jinyun's landscapes as well as themes centered on Yellow Emperor culture. She also created a special piece titled The Ancient City of Malta as a gift.

Liu's interactive teaching was a highlight of the exhibition, as she demonstrated basic paper-cutting skills while guiding participants to create simple patterns.

Under her instruction, many successfully made paper-cuttings featuring both Chinese traditional motifs and local Maltese elements, experiencing the charm of Chinese cultural heritage in an immersive way.

Liu will continue to use paper-cutting as a medium to share Jinyun's unique cultural appeal with the world.
