Wooden toy enterprises in Yunhe county of Lishui, Zhejiang province, are utilizing cross-border e-commerce to accelerate their global expansion, driving the "Yunhe-made" brand onto international markets.
This shift serves as both a new channel for transforming traditional foreign trade and an engine for high-quality development. For example, Yunhe Jay Wooden Toy is rushing to produce $60,000 worth of spherical toy parts in response to a cross-border order.
Having entered this sector in 2019, the company anticipates that its cross-border sales will grow by 30 to 50 percent this year, reaching $800,000 to $1 million.
Similarly, Zhejiang Xinmiao Teaching Aids sold 200,000 sets of its self-developed "busy boards" overseas via e-commerce last year, gaining rapid international recognition.
Government support plays a crucial role, with Yunhe authorities helping through policies, funding, talent recruitment, and training. The local wooden toy exhibition hall, which has been offering hosting services since last April, has facilitated over 3,000 cross-border orders through platforms like SHEIN and AliExpress, reaching more than 150 countries and regions.
The county is also building a specialized e-commerce talent pool through collaborations with major platforms and is developing an integrated sales center to help companies expand their operations. As e-commerce strategies deepen, Yunhe-made products are gaining greater international influence and better pricing power.
Under a five-year industrial plan targeting annual cross-border e-commerce transactions exceeding 3 billion yuan ($420.81 million), Yunhe will continue to partner with international platforms and enhance public services to cultivate leading e-commerce enterprises and upgrade the sector.
