The 2025 Joint Symposium of the City Alliance for the Protection and Joint Application of Maritime Silk Road World Heritage was held in Longquan, a county-level city in Lishui, Zhejiang province, on Nov 18.

Experts confirmed the Longquan Kiln's core role in the historic trade network and its status as a key inland starting point.

Longquan, famous for its sword and celadon porcelain, is now revitalizing these age-old industries. A local company, Zhejiang Tianfeng Ceramics, recently led the creation of a national standard for celadon packaging containers.

Technology drives this transformation. Longquan has re-established its celadon research institute and launched joint research centers with leading art and ceramic universities.

These institutes address key industry challenges, such as digital archiving and intelligent production, enhancing technological support and global influence.

Innovation ensures continuous vitality. A 3D printing center promotes standardized production and digital collectibles. Younger artisans are incorporating modern elements like anime into their designs, appealing to new consumer markets.

To expand globally, Longquan has developed over 10 provincial standards. International events attract artists worldwide. Overseas, 588 celadon and sword products are listed on major platforms in Japan, Australia, and the United Kingdom.

A recent trade meeting secured intent for over 350,000 orders. The city also promotes its products at major fairs and through online platforms, strengthening its global presence.
