Yunhe county in Lishui, Zhejiang province, hosted a product launch event for its wooden toy industry on Dec 20, centered on the guochao, or China-chic trend, unveiling three new collections: the Forbidden City series, the Monkey King series, and the Yuntu series.
The products were developed through collaborations with well-known cultural brands and figures. The Forbidden City series was created through a popular cultural program, transforming elements from the Palace Museum into educational wooden toys.
The Monkey King series draws from the classic story Journey to the West and its beloved characters, offering collectible figurines and music boxes, and the Yuntu series is based on a local creative character, a rabbit named Yuntu Maomao, and includes wooden dollhouse furniture and cultural products.
The local Yuntu Maomao brand is expanding through these partnerships, aiming to adapt its regional cultural themes into designs with wider appeal.
The event also included contract signings for design rights and sales channels, as well as a product exhibition area where industry professionals discussed strategies to promote China-chic wooden toys in international markets.
