The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs recently awarded geographical indication (GI) certificates to 178 agricultural products nationwide, 23 of which are produced in East China's Zhejiang province.
To date, a total of 138 agricultural specialties from Zhejiang have received a national-level GI certificate.
GI is a label given to agricultural products that have a specific geographic origin and possess certain qualities or a reputation related to that origin.
A list of the 23 newly-added Zhejiang GI products and the cities they are produced in are as follows:
1. Roosters and hens from Anji's bamboo woods (Huzhou city)
2. Anji bamboo shoots (Huzhou city)
3. Cixi mud snails (Ningbo city)
4. Dengbu golden melons (Zhoushan city)
5. Honey peaches from Dingzhai township (Shaoxing city)
6. Dongyang Rhizoma corydalis (Jinhua city)
7. Haiyan grapes (Jiaxing city)
8. Huangyan cane shoots (Taizhou city)
9. Jiande bud-shaped tea (Hangzhou city)
10. Jiande Wu Cornel (Hangzhou city)
11. Kaihua Clean-Water Fish (Quzhou city)
12. Longyou linen-colored roosters and hens (Quzhou city)
13. Honey pears from Luniao town (Hangzhou city)
14. Pujiang peach-shaped plums (Jinhua city)
15. Eggplants from Qili township (Quzhou city)
16. Qingtian paddy-field-raised fish (Lishui city)
17. Qingyuan Mushrooms (Lishui city)
18. Quzhou Dewdrop Tea (Quzhou city)
19. Ruoyang Longzhen Tea (Jinhua city)
20. Shangyu Juenong Cuiming Tea (Shaoxing city)
