Tourism authorities across the Yangtze River Delta region, which consists of Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui provinces, as well as Shanghai municipality, recently endorsed 20 "red tourism" travel routes in the region.
Red tourism refers to tours exploring the history of the Communist Party of China.
This year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC and red tourism destinations are expecting to receive many tourists looking to pay their respects to the founding fathers and architects of modern China.
Five of the aforementioned 20 red tourism routes mainly pass through Zhejiang localities. They are as follows.
Route 1:
The Memorial for the Site of the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China (Shanghai) – Memorial Hall of Revolution at Nanhu Lake (Jiaxing) – Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City (Hangzhou) – Memorial Hall of China's Constitution in 1954 (Hangzhou)
Route 2:
Memorial Hall of Revolution at Nanhu Lake (Jiaxing) – Hangzhou Bay Bridge – Haitian Yizhou scenic area (Ningbo) – Siming Mountain Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery (Ningbo) – Zhengmeng School (Ningbo) – Old Site of East Zhejiang Base for Resistance against Japanese Aggression (Ningbo) – Hengkantou village in Lianglong town (Ningbo)
Route 3:
"Two Mountains" Scenic Area in Anji county (Huzhou) – Lujia village in Anji county (Huzhou) – Mulianwu village and Mantangli village in Anji county (Huzhou) – Moganshan International Tourist Resort (Huzhou) – Xiajiang village and Thousand-Islet Lake scenic area in Chun'an county (Hangzhou) – Jinxing village in Kaihua county (Quzhou)
Route 4:
Tingpang Red Culture Education Base in Sanmen county (Taizhou) – Yijiangshan Island and Dachen Island (Taizhou) – Old Site of Pingyang Revolutionary Base (Wenzhou) – Memorial Hall of Pioneering Women Militia in Dongtou district (Wenzhou)
Route 5:
Chen Wangdao's former residence (Jinhua) – Yiwu International Trade Market (Jinhua) – Hengdian World Studios (Jinhua) – Memorial Hall of Southwest Zhejiang Revolutionary Base (Lishui) – Andaihou Southwest Zhejiang Revolutionary Base in Songyang county (Lishui) – Wangcunkou town in Suichang county (Lishui)
