A sea-rail combined freight train carrying 50 TEUs of light industry products arrived at the railway station of Yueqing Bay Port Zone in Wenzhou, Zhejiang province on July 29, marking the launch of the province's second route for sea-rail combined transport in Wenzhou Port.
The province's first such route is based in Ningbo Zhoushan Port.
The aforementioned train's cargo had been uploaded in Yiwu, Zhejiang province, where it will be moved into international container liners departing from Wenzhou Port to harbor cities in countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.
The growth rate of container throughput in Wenzhou Port ranked in the top three among coastal hubs nationwide for the past three quarters.
The annual container throughput for sea-rail combined transport in Wenzhou Port is expected to reach 50,000 TEUs in the next five years, said an official of Yueqing Bay Port Zone.
