The railway station's area will be expanded more than 10 times as a result of the rebuild and remodeling and its annual passenger traffic will increase from 1 million to 10 million people.

On completion, it will only take 65 minutes to journey from Yongjia county to Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang province.

The Hangzhou-Wenzhou high-speed railway, which is scheduled to finish construction in 2023 – running from Hangzhou West Railway Station to Wenzhou South Railway Station – will be 315 kilometers long, with a design speed of 350 km per hour.

The section of railway in Yongjia has a total length of 66.7 km with two stations in the county – namely the newly built Nanxijiang Station and the existing Yongjia Station which will transform into the new-look Wenzhou North Railway Station.

In future, it will take 5 minutes from Wenzhou North Railway Station to downtown  Wenzhou, 25 minutes to reach Wenzhou Longwan International Airport and 65 minutes to reach Hangzhou – making it a key project to achieve the province's aim of a one-hour traffic circle.
