The stadium of the Wenzhou Sports Center, a venue for the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, has passed its acceptance check and has been determined to be qualified for operation by experts on Oct 12. It will host a soccer match on Oct 16.
An official with the organizing committee of the Hangzhou Asian Games said that after a year of upgrading, the venue can now meet the requirements of hosting soccer matches of the Asian Games. As part of its acceptance check, experts assessed the stadium's facilities and equipment thoroughly.
A soccer match will take place in the stadium between teams from Wenzhou and Jiaxing, two cities in East China's Zhejiang province, to mark the new venue's opening.
The upgrading of the stadium started in March 2020, with an investment of more than 64 million yuan ($9.9 million). Designated as a venue for soccer matches of the Hangzhou Asian Games, the stadium stuck to the concept of "being green, intelligent, economical, and civilized" by seeking fewer modifications, while better meeting the requirements of the Asia Games, as well as remaining functional for residents' activities after the Games.
