Sumayyah Hosany, a doctor from Mauritius, has found a new way to express her affection for China by making various short videos to promote Chinese culture.
Having been living in Wenzhou, East China's Zhejiang province for 12 years, Hosany was honored by the city as one of the "Most Beautiful Wenzhou Residents" last year as she played an active role in helping fight against COVID-19 when it broke out in early 2020.
Hosany said that she was surprised by winning the award as she thought it was only for native residents. However, the unexpected honor has greatly motivated her as her work was seen and recognized by local residents.
Touched by the attention, Hosany decided to learn more about Chinese culture and attended the Global Young Leaders Dialogue project this year, which was initiated by the Chinese government to enhance expats' understanding of China's culture and its people.
In her spare time, Hosany also worked for the overseas promotional center in Wenzhou, aiming to help the city bolster its international image.
"I want to build a cultural channel between China and Africa, and enable people to learn more about each other," Hosany said.
