Wenzhou natives from around the world worked together to help their hometown overcome the COVID-19 epidemic in early 2020 as the city received a total of 18.53 million pieces of epidemic prevention and control supplies from 472 overseas Chinese groups and enterprises in 45 countries. As COVID-19 spread, Wenzhou has also lent a hand by donating over 7 million items to more than 20 countries.

Although the European Union and China differ in terms of area, population, and economic, social, political and cultural development, both face a similar challenge – significant regional disparities and unbalanced regional development. Based on this, China-EU cooperation on regional policy has been launched, and there is huge potential for development.

China and the EU established cooperation on regional policy in 2006 to develop mutual learning initiatives to allow their regions to develop. Two rounds of cooperation that included 40 case areas have been conducted, promoting unimpeded economic and trade, industrial cooperation, cultural and personnel exchanges.
