Honglingtou is a hill-encircled village that is located 3.5 kilometers away from the town center of Yanting in Cangnan county, Wenzhou, East China's Zhejiang province.
The village has suffered for ages from road sinuosity and land scarcity. The majority of people living there are seniors as most of its young people have left to work in urban areas.
Following a small-scale farming pattern, villagers there live simply and their incomes are relatively low.
Fueled by the goal of improving the quality of life for villagers, Lin Fuhao, a local official, proposed setting up a rural cooperative in the area to help villagers earn more money via animal breeding and crop planting.
The cooperative has gained backup from the Zhejiang Earthquake Agency. It was part of the rural revitalization efforts made by East China's Zhejiang province, a national strategy aiming to facilitate the comprehensive development of China's rural areas.
