Wenzhou, a port city in East China's Zhejiang province, is expected to see its container throughput at the Wenzhou Port reach 2 million TEUs and the combined sea-river and sea-railway transport volume reach 4.5 million tons and 8 million tons, respectively, by 2025.
To achieve this goal, Wenzhou will continue to highlight the development of its main port in Yueqing, a county-level city administered by Wenzhou, strengthen the supporting roles of two ports on Zhuangyuanao Island and in the Oujiangkou Industrial Agglomeration Zone, as well as develop more small ports in neighboring areas.
Wenzhou will strive to gain more support from the Zhejiang Seaport Group to open more frequent foreign shipping lanes to Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asian countries, and countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.
The city will also accelerate the development of value-added logistics businesses so as to improve the port's overall strength in warehousing, value-added processing, business and trade services, financial services, and shipping services.
Wenzhou will also focus on the digitalization of port development by working together with various digital platforms for highways, railways, sea and air transportation, and speeding up the application of emerging technologies such as big data, 5G, drones, and smart gate machines at ports.
