A China Postal Airlines cargo plane carrying 10.3 tons of daily necessities including clothes, shoes, glasses and accessories departed from Wenzhou in East China's Zhejiang province for Tokyo, Japan on Jan 2.
This is the third international air cargo flight operated by Wenzhou Airport since the aviation hub opened its first to Milan, Italy and the second to Los Angeles, the United States last year.
There will be three flights from Wenzhou to Tokyo every week.
The route is expected to make Wenzhou's international air cargo services more economical and efficient as it will allow goods from Wenzhou and East China to arrive in Japan the next day, two or three days shorter than before. The freight price will also be significantly reduced.
Direct air cargo routes departing from Wenzhou to countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative have already been put on the agenda.
