Six organizations that will promote cultural exchanges between Wenzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, and Eastern Asian countries including Japan and South Korea were inaugurated on Jan 26.

The organizations include a cultural promotional center in Japan, a think tank composed of scholars from Wenzhou, Japan and South Korea, and an exchange center for Eastern Asian students in Wenzhou.

The move comes after the city was recognized as the 2022 Culture City of East Asia last August and is a prelude to a series of international exchange events to be held by the city throughout this year.

Xu Peng, deputy head of the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and Lou Shaoguang, deputy mayor of Wenzhou, addressed the inauguration ceremony.

Ten videos showcasing Wenzhou's intangible cultural heritages also made their debut at the ceremony. Presently, the city has four world-class intangible cultural heritage items recognized by UNESCO and 35 national level ones.
