This is the second episode of the short video series Cool Wenzhou! Season Two, which features Alper Celik, a Turkish sales manager at Yueqing Union Electrics Co in Wenzhou who has over 20 years of experience in China's low voltage switchgear industry.
Bringing up his connection with China, Celik said it was destiny.
He first came to Wenzhou on a two-week business trip on behalf of his Los Angeles employer in 1999, bringing with him only a small suitcase and a small amount of clothes. However, the trip kept being prolonged, and Alper never ended up returning to LA.
Celik met his wife, a Wenzhou woman, in 2003, got married two years later, and now has a family of four.
In addition to their hospitality, Celik also admired the strong work ethic and dedication of Wenzhou locals, especially those in the business circle.
"Wenzhou businesspeople are very smart and diligent. Once they set a goal, they will spare no effort to reach it. They are not only good at doing business but also at making friends, which is something worth learning," Celik said.
In his spare time, Celik enjoys the slow pace of local life, often brewing a nice cup of coffee or taking a jogging through the picturesque coastal landscapes.
