Wenzhou Jan-Feb foreign trade reaches $6.81b

Wenzhou Customs announced on March 17 that the city's foreign trade value had increased by 25.9 percent year-on-year to 43.24 billion yuan ($6.81 billion) in the first two months of 2022.

The city's foreign trade value in January increased by 49.1 percent, 12.6 percentage points higher than the provincial average.

The values of exports and imports in January and February were up 21.6 percent and 56.1 percent to 36.52 and 6.72 billion yuan respectively.

Mechanical and electrical products again made up the bulk of Wenzhou's exports, accounting for 52.7 percent of the city's total. The value of these products increased by 19.4 percent year-on-year to 19.25 billion yuan. The majority of the products exported were electrical control devices, eyeglasses and related parts, and automobile spare parts.

Heavy metals such as ferroalloys, unwrought copper and copper materials, and rolled steel accounted for 59.1 percent of Wenzhou's total imports, with their values reaching 2.76 billion yuan, 870 million yuan and 340 billion yuan respectively.

Wenzhou's foreign trade partners were mainly in ASEAN countries, the United States, and RECP member countries in the same period, with their values growing 50.5, 28.2 and 46.7 percent to 7.37, 5.33 and 12.91 billion yuan, respectively.
