Rui'an, a county-level city administered by Wenzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, founded an education center for overseas Chinese children on March 26, local media outlets reported.
The center aims to enhance the national pride of overseas Chinese children and encourage them to learn more about traditional Chinese culture. It will invite scholars, musicians and intangible cultural practitioners to hold a variety of Chinese cultural classes every month.
Chinese language schools around the world will also work with the center to carry out various forms of cooperation. The Florence Chinese School in Italy, the country with the highest number of children from Rui'an, was the first to cooperate with the center. More than 700 students at the school will soon be able to enjoy customized Chinese cultural classes.
Rui'an children currently living in more than 100 countries and regions across the globe will all have access to the center.
Rui'an has among the largest populations of overseas Chinese in China, with more than 160,000 locals currently living abroad, and the city has in recent years been dedicated to promoting its international image.
