An intelligent vehicle has recently been applied in Ouhai district in Wenzhou, East China's Zhejiang province to help roads check their "health conditions", local media outlets reported.

The vehicle, relying on a vehicle-mounted intelligent inspection information system, can use automatic identification equipment such as high-definition image shooting and multimodal GPS to automatically identify and count road cracks, potholes and subsidence and then use mobile intelligent terminals to process the data and generate reports.

"The 'road doctor' is more efficient than manual inspection as it holistically collects road health data," said an official from the local urban management and law enforcement bureau.

So far, a total of 626 issues found on Gaoxiang Road and Bantang Road have been remedied by the "road doctor". It will carry out targeted examinations on key roads for the 19th Asian Games soon, and the automatic inspection information system will be applied in law enforcement vehicles, sanitation vehicles, and engineering vehicles in the near future.
