The upgrading and reconstruction of urban roads in Ouhai district, Wenzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, is in full swing, local media outlets reported.
The projects will be completed in the near future and will provide an interconnected traffic network to welcome the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022.
For example, the upgrading of Shanghui Road, a secondary main road serving the Wenzhou Dragon Boat Center, was completed recently by extending the road by a total of 2.3 kilometers from Jingyu Road to South Guanghua Road. The Wenzhou Dragon Boat Center, known as the best of its kind in Asia, will host dragon boat races for the 19th Asian Games in September.
The two-way four-lane Shanghui Road, with a designed speed of 40 km per hour and a lane width of about 40 m, has undergone upgrades such as asphalt paving, sidewalk upgrading, manhole cover setting, traffic signs and lines setting, and greening. The newly-installed intelligent road lamps, which will be used for lighting, monitoring and LED displays, have given the road a more technological feel.
