A rainbow over a wooden lounge bridge in Jiji town, Nantou county, Taiwan recently went viral online, local media outlets reported.
Locals passing by were recorded the splendid scene with their mobile phones and cameras.
The bridge, which was donated by the mountainous county of Taishun in Wenzhou, East China's Zhejiang province in February 2019, was a key cultural project and also the first of its kind built by Taishun outside the county.
The bridge has played a positive role in fostering friendly exchanges across the Straits.
Taishun, dubbed "The hometown of China's lounge bridges", has preserved the exquisite craft since the Tang Dynasty (618-907), with more than 100 ancient lounge bridges still existing nowadays. The bridge was inscribed on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list in 2009.
The lounge bridge, also known as the gallery bridge, has covers that can shade it from the sun and rain. The bridge is also used as a place for rest and gatherings. There are several variations to the bridge, including wood arch ones, stone arch ones, wooden flat ones, and pavilion style ones.
Jiji, an urban township located in the west central part of Nantou county, is the smallest of Taiwan's townships by area.
