Wencheng county in Wenzhou, a city in East China's Zhejiang province, is located in the mountainous area of southern Zhejiang. It is a national ecological demonstration county and is known as the "Lung of Wenzhou" and a "natural oxygen bar".
Wencheng county has in recent years driven the industrial economy of the entire region by planting bayberries. In 2021, Wencheng had a 40.8-square-kilometer planting area that generated an annual output of 23,800 tons of bayberries worth 255 million yuan ($38.11 million). There are presently more than 31,000 fruit farmers engaged in the production and operation of bayberry.
