The 19th Yangtze River Delta Science and Technology Forum and the 2022 Yangtze River Delta Academician Forum opened in Wuhu, Anhui province on July 6, focusing on the deep integration between industry and scientific and technological innovation.
Lin Jianbo, head of the Wenzhou science and technology association, delivered a speech at the forum on Wenzhou's experience in seeking integrated development between science and the economy.
He said that since 2019, Wenzhou has hosted three World Young Scientist Summitd in a row, forging cooperation with more than 100 global science and technology organizations and foreign universities. A total of 827 high-caliber talents have been brought into the city, of which nine are full-time academicians. The city ranked 27th among the top 100 most attractive cities for talent in China. It has also signed contracts to bring in 65 key projects, 34 high-level innovation platforms, and 304 industrialization projects.
Lin added that Wenzhou has promoted the establishment of four science and technology and economic integration organizations, guided municipal institutes to serve 348 enterprises, and solved 131 technical problems.
He said that Wenzhou has also encouraged a total of five provincial associations, including the Zhejiang Textile Engineering Society, to set up service stations in the city. In addition, it has set up industrial associations with 11 national institutes, including the China Electronics Society.
