With the sporting venues in Wenzhou for the 19th Asian Games having been opened to the public for half a month, local residents' interest in exercise has continued to rise, with the three venues receiving an average of 7,000 sports enthusiasts per day.
Granny Yu, a woman in her 60s, was happy to get out for some brisk walking with her neighbor at the Wenzhou Sports Center.
"The new facial recognition system frees me from carrying an access card all the time and I enjoy exercising for an hour every morning and evening," Yu said.
Chen, a man in his 30s, is an experienced marathon runner who jogs on the plastic track at the Wenzhou Olympic Sports Center.
"I was delighted to jog on the track-and-field ground certified by the China Athletics Association and the International Association of Athletics Federations," Chen said. "Though the venue is not the largest of its kind I've been to, it is the best and newest."
Liu, who has tried dragon boating at the Wenzhou Dragon Boat Sports Center, the highest-quality of its kind in Asia, said the advanced facilities, clear waters and guaranteed safety at the venue have allowed him to immerse in sports.
"I received professional instruction before rowing the dragon boat, which seemed simple but required skills and swiftness," Chen said.
