An agreement to establish a medical physics research center in Wenzhou which integrates innovative resources from East China's Yangtze River Delta region and South China's Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area was signed on July 22.
The research center will enjoy joint support from the Wenzhou Institute of University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Songshan Lake Materials Laboratory, and Yangtze River Delta Physics Research Center.
The center will focus on the frontier of medical physics, explore new methods and technologies in the field, and devote itself to solving medical application problems through the use high-end physics-related technology.
Innovative resources from the YRD region and the Greater Bay Area will be mobilized by the center to conduct cooperation in attracting and cultivating top talent, tackling key technological problems, promoting the commercialization of research results and seeking economic amalgamation.
"I am impressed and encouraged by Wenzhou's science and innovation vitality every time I visit the city," said Yang Guoqiang, vice-president of UCAS and dean of the Wenzhou Institute.
Statistics show that since its founding in 2019, the Wenzhou Institute has brought in 55 research teams consisting of over 350 researchers and carried out a wide range of cooperation with some 10 Chinese and foreign academicians.
Wenzhou will keep targeting core industries such as life sciences and new materials, work hard to tackle key problems, commercialize research results, and strive to attract more high-caliber teams and individuals to the city.
