A 27-minute bilingual documentary entitled Learning Chinese Culture in Wenzhou, a co-production between the international channel of China Central Television (CCTV4) and the Wenzhou Overseas Media Center, premiered on July 24.
The documentary features Ergashev Akmal, a Tajikistani man who is about to pursue a surgery doctorate at Wenzhou Medical University, and Dobrynina Alexandra, a Russian senior manager who works at an American company in Wenzhou.
Alexandra's story focuses on the Ou Kiln, an ancient porcelain kiln that was popular in Wenzhou from the Eastern Han Dynasty (25-220) to the Song Dynasty (960-1279). Akmal's story follows his studies as a medico while maintaining an active in role in cultural exchange activities involving movable-type printing in Rui'an, a county-level city in Wenzhou.
A highlight of CCTV4's Bond with China series, the TV program aims to showcase how Wenzhou has been making efforts to preserve and promote cultural relics abroad in recent years.
