Wenzhou, a coastal city in East China's Zhejiang province, recently rolled out 12 measures to facilitate the stable, innovative and high-quality development of foreign trade.
The measures covered topics like expanding the number of foreign trade enterprises, encouraging enterprises to expand and increase orders, accelerating the high-quality development of new foreign trade forms, diversifying methods of trade, deepening reforms to facilitate customs clearance, opening foreign trade logistics channels, optimizing the operation of China-Europe (Yiwu-Xinjiang-Europe) freight trains, continuing to expand import trade, setting up a pilot platform, strengthening factor support for foreign trade policies, and increasing financial support for foreign trade enterprises.
To accelerate the high-quality development of new foreign trade models, Wenzhou plans to build an integrated cross-border e-commerce system, cultivate cross-border e-commerce entities, enhance the promotion and application of overseas intelligent logistics platforms, and build cross-border e-business schools, research institutes and expert databases.
Statistics show that Wenzhou's multiple precise measures directed at foreign trade have helped accelerate the development of foreign trade in the first half of the year. The total value of the city's imports and exports reached 142.66 billion yuan ($21.11 billion), a year-on-year increase of 30.8 percent. The value of exports was 121.79 billion yuan, an increase of 36.4 percent, while imports were valued at 20.87 billion yuan, up 5.4 percent. The growth rate of the city's imports and exports, as well as its growth in exports alone, ranked first in Zhejiang province.
