Thanks to close ties between government departments and the market, the foreign trade of Wenzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, is making rapid progress this year, local media outlets reported.

Liu Meijing, one of over 700 individual merchants at the newly-opened Wenzhou Transportation International Trade Market, said the integrated export services offered at the market helped her business get started more quickly.

"With the help of the Wenzhou commerce bureau, I can enjoy integrated services related to trade agency, logistics, and customs declaration and inspection without feeling at sea," Liu said.

Statistics show that in the first half of this year, Wenzhou registered 142.66 billion yuan ($21.1 billion) in imports and exports, a year-on-year growth of 30.8 percent. Its exports reached 121.79 billion yuan, up 36.4 percent year on year. The growth rates of both exports and overall imports and exports ranked first in the province.

In addition, direct cargo flights to Tokyo have resumed, along with the opening of new direct cargo flights to Osaka, Vietnam and Thailand. The total number of near-sea direct shipping lines departing from Wenzhou has reached nine.

Wenzhou has also issued supporting policies and application guidelines for "agent exhibitors" for foreign trade enterprises, and enterprises are encouraged to take advantage of these agent exhibitors. The city has also brought in five freight forwarding enterprises to promote healthy market competition.
