With the fishing moratorium in the East China Sea partially ending on Aug 1, the "first net" of seafood has arrived at major farmer's markets in Wenzhou, a coastal city in East China's Zhejiang province, with the number of types increasing and prices falling.

Swimming crab, one of the most popular types of seafood enjoyed by Wenzhou residents, has seen its price fall to between 40 and 65 yuan ($5.9 to $9.6) since Monday.

"The price will be even lower in about 10 days, when large amounts of seafood from surrounding provinces such as Shandong, Fujian and Guangdong will be available on the market," said a seafood vendor surnamed Zhou.

"Aquatic products such as Bombay ducks, squid, and mackerel fish will also come into season soon, with their prices falling down to 24 yuan, 40 yuan, and 50 yuan per kilogram, respectively, less than half their previous price," Zhou added.
