Wenzhou in East China's Zhejiang province was recently included in the first batch of demonstration cities for strengthening the protection of intellectual property rights by the China National Intellectual Property Administration.
Wenzhou is one of the three cities in Zhejiang province to demonstrate the work from July 2022 to June 2025.
Wenzhou has been working to strengthen the protection of intellectual property rights in recent years, including continuously improving the intellectual property system, and improving creation quality, utilization efficiency, protection effects, management abilities and services related to intellectual property. Efforts have been made to fully stimulate the vitality of social innovation and creativity and promote the city's high-quality economic and social development.
So far, the city has authorized 279,446 patents, including 27,052 invention patents, 162,754 patents for utility models, and 89,640 patents for appearance design. The number of valid registered trademarks in the city reached 565,092, ranking fourth among the country's prefecture-level cities. A total of 23,000 copyright registrations were made in Wenzhou in 2021. The city has established 161 provincial and municipal commercial secret protection bases.
Wenzhou has been approved as part of the first batch of national intellectual property demonstration cities, national copyright demonstration cities, national commercial secret protection innovation pilot cities, and national intellectual property pledge financing pilot cities.
