Jin Chengzhi, a Wenzhou native and conductor of the renowned chamber choir group Shanghai Rainbow Chamber Singers, has been making efforts to promote the development of music in his hometown, local media outlets reported.
Inspired by his own experience learning about music from teacher Zou Yuefei since childhood, Jin wanted to contribute to the development of music in Wenzhou and has composed a number of songs in the Wenzhou dialect.
"The number of choirs sung in the Wenzhou dialect in Wenzhou is very small, let alone in the wider China area," Jin said.
"Memories of my hometown gushed out when I heard Wenzhou natives singing in the Wenzhou dialect. I will continue working to realize my goal of hosting a concert with my choir in Wenzhou," Jin said.
He also said that he was currently working on a new song in the Wenzhou dialect and was seeking cooperation with a concert hall in Wenzhou, so as to find a new "home" for local music enthusiasts.
