Goldwind, a leading clean energy services provider, kicked off construction on its floating carbon neutral headquarters facility for wind power generated in deep waters and high seas in Wenzhou on Aug 31, local media outlets reported.
With a representative investment of 43 billion yuan ($6.16 billion), the project will integrate the new energy and manufacturing industries and center on the wind power generator manufacturing industry while bringing in supporting enterprises in the industrial chain.
The project will consist of a research and development headquarters, a manufacturing and export base for large-scale offshore wind power draught fans, an ocean engineering equipment manufacturing base, an operation and maintenance home port, and a zero-carbon demonstration zone.
"The establishment of Goldwind's offshore headquarters in Wenzhou is a milestone in the development of offshore wind power in China," said Miu Bin, vice-general manager of ZTT Submarine Cable Ltd. "Once completed, the project is expected to help industrial chains gather and develop in Wenzhou. It will promote R&D and innovation in China's offshore wind power technology in deep waters and high seas and strengthen Wenzhou's reputation in offshore wind power generation."
Wenzhou has been ramping up efforts to develop its new energy industry in recent years and witnessed the signing of 12 new energy projects worth 125.8 billion yuan in April.
