According to Wenzhou Customs, from January to August this year Wenzhou's imports and exports were valued at 195.53 billion yuan ($27.84 billion), growing 30.7 percent year on year, 11.8 percentage points higher than the provincial average.
Exports totaled 168.75 billion yuan, up 35.6 percent year on year, while imports were 26.78 billion yuan, up 6.3 percent year on year.
In August alone, Wenzhou's imports and exports were valued at 23.94 billion yuan, an increase of 16.8 percent. Specifically, exports reached 21.08 billion yuan, up by 18.2 percent, while imports reached 2.86 billion yuan, up by 7.4 percent.
Mechanical and electrical products, with an export value of 85.51 billion yuan, accounted for 50.7 percent of Wenzhou's total exports in the first eight months, with that of electrical control devices and auto parts seeing the highest growth.
The EU, United States, ASEAN, Latin America and Africa retained strong foreign trade ties with Wenzhou, while RCEP member countries and countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative also saw enhanced ties with Wenzhou during the period.
From January to August, the import and export of private enterprises in Wenzhou reached 184.98 billion yuan, up 31.2 percent year on year, while that of foreign-invested enterprises reached 6.83 billion yuan, up 23.9 percent year on year.
