Shangen, which is located at the foot of Daluo Mountain in Chashan sub-district, Ouhai district, Wenzhou and has the Wenrui River running through it, is home to a large number of overseas returnees.
Statistics show that of the 1,670 villagers, 810 are overseas Chinese, accounting for 48.5 percent of the total and living in over 20 countries, including Italy, the Netherlands, and Germany.
In this episode, we will follow Bao Chenglong, a Wenzhou native living in Italy, and visit Shangen to explore why the once little-known village has gained so much popularity online in recent years.
Shangen has taken advantage of its rich overseas Chinese resources, attracting them home to start new business. Meanwhile, the village has also made various upgrades, making it an ideal destiantion for visitors who are fed up with crowded cities and hope to immerse themselves in a world of art and music.
