Wenzhou speeds up digital economy development

Wenzhou in East China's Zhejiang province recently held a meeting to promote the concept of and measures related to the digital economy to the wider community, local media outlets reported.

Efforts have been made by the city to advance the development of the digital economy in recent years, such as implementing the Digital Economy Five-Year Plan, strengthening the digital economy, and having the digital economy comprehensive capacity remain in the top three in Zhejiang province for three consecutive years.

Wenzhou has also been selected as the national 5G pilot city, established the China (Wenzhou) Cross-border E-commerce Comprehensive Pilot Zone, honored as a national demonstration city of information consumption, and ranked 27th among the top 100 digital economy cities in China.

Since the beginning of this year, Wenzhou has been speeding up its progress in the digital economy. For example, the city released the 14th Five-Year (2021-25) Plan on the Digital Economy, put forward the idea of creating a digital industrial layout, and published the Plan on the Wenzhou Digital Economy Agglomeration Zone (2022-24).

It has also held the 2022 China Software Industry Innovation and Development Conference, opened the Wenzhou International Cloud Software Valley, been listed among the top 10 best domestic cities in information consumption, and put into operation China's first live-streaming base for the footwear industry.

"We will continue to pursue digital reform and make efforts related to digital economy industrial capabilities, industrial digitization, market-based allocation of data factors, digital governance in the economic sector, and promotion of digital services.
