Wenzhou lists pilot cities for intelligent construction

Wenzhou, a coastal city in East China's Zhejiang province, was named by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development as one of 24 pilot cities on a three-year plan for intelligent construction, local media outlets reported.

The move aims to develop intelligent construction and promote the transformation and development of the construction industry via technological innovation.

The notice requires pilot cities to strictly implement the pilot implementation plan, establish a sound overall planning and coordination mechanism, increase policy support, and promote various pilot tasks to ensure that pilot work is effective.

According to data from the ministry, in 2021 the total output value of China's construction industry reached 29.3 trillion yuan ($4.2 trillion), an increase of 11 percent year-on-year, and the added value will account for 7 percent of GDP, supporting the sustainable and healthy development of the national economy.

The other 23 pilot cities include: Beijing, Tianjin, Chongqing, Xiongan New Area and Baoding in Hebei province, Shenyang in Liaoning province, Harbin in Heilongjiang province, Nanjing and Suzhou in Jiangsu province, Wenzhou, Jiaxing and Taizhou in Zhejiang province, Hefei in Anhui province, Xiamen in Fujian province, Qingdao in Shandong province, Zhengzhou in Henan province, Wuhan in Hubei province, Changsha in Hunan province, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Foshan in Guangdong province, Chengdu in Sichuan province, Xi'an in Shaanxi province, and Urumqi in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.
