The 2022 Wenzhou International Fashion Cultural Industry Expo, which ended in the eastern Chinese coastal city on Nov 21, drew roughly 256,000 visitors to its main venues and 268,000 visitors to its sub venues, local media outlets reported.

Deals worth a total of 326 million yuan ($45.5 million) were inked at the main venues, while deals worth 51 million yuan were reached at sub venues.

Highlighting the protection of intangible cultural heritage and the creation of creative cultural products, the expo awarded 10 gold prizes to a variety of cultural products, related to Nanxi Opera, Ou Kiln, Ou Sculpture, and colored stone decorations.

Booths of foreign countries, such as Italy, Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam, also received much attention at the expo, a reflection of the active role Wenzhou played in ancient times in carrying out maritime trade across the world. Enterprises from 24 foreign countries also made appearances at the main venues of the expo.

A Wenzhou Fashion Week was held for the first time on the sidelines of the expo, which not only showcased Wenzhou's strong fashion industry, but also offered local children opportunities to demonstrate their T-stage talent.

Since its initiation in 2014, the expo has received over 2 million visitors and roughly 4,000 cultural enterprises from some 40 countries and regions across the globe.
