Traditional culture has fascinated Miao Yichuan since childhood.
After living in Spain for 15 years, Miao was aware of the difference between Eastern and Western cultures and decided to return to his hometown to present traditional Chinese culture to the world in a modern way.
"Colored-stone mosaics, like other intangible cultural heritage items, do not fit well into daily life. The best way to pass on this heritage is to blend it into the daily lives of the people," Miao said.
Miao has made many attempts in this regard, such as developing new business models, opening handicraft classes at schools, and participating in various cultural fairs. He has also blended traditional art with modern gadgets such as jewelry boxes, tea coasters and stationery so as to better meet market demand.
"I believe that diversifying the presentation of intangible cultural heritage items will bring more awareness of our traditional culture," Miao said.
