The 2023 CCTV Spring Festival Gala of Chinese Opera will be held in Wenzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, according to a press conference held on Jan 27.
The gala will be broadcast on CCTV-1 and CCTV-11 at 20:00 pm on Jan 22.
The Spring Festival Gala of Chinese Opera has been held for the past 33 years. This is the first time it will be held outdoors in Wenzhou, the birthplace of Southern Drama, which is the oldest mature opera in China.
The gala will feature more than 30 types of operas performed by people from over 70 opera troupes and schools.
Among all performers that will be involved in the gala, the oldest is Shang Changrong, a famous Peking Opera performer who is 83 years old, while the youngest one is just four years old.
The gala will make use of augmented reality, or AR, and multi-angle shooting to enhance its visual effects, according to the gala organizer.
