The pump and valve industrial cluster in Yongjia county, Wenzhou, East China's Zhejiang province recently made the list of characteristic industrial clusters of small and medium-sized enterprises in 2022, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
The industry, which took shape in the late 1960s, is now home to China's largest industrial valve production base, which is also home to the highest concentration of enterprises and the most diverse product categories and specifications.
With more than 40,000 kinds of products, the base's products are used in everything from infrastructure and nuclear power to aerospace and deep sea.
In 2021, the total output value of Yongjia's pump and valve industry reached 37.5 billion yuan ($5.58 billion), making it the only county among Zhejiang's 26 mountainous counties and county-level cities with to have the output value of a single industry exceed30 billion yuan.
Yongjia will roll out more targeted preferential policies to stimulate the development of the pump and valve industry. It will also focus on the innovative, digital and green upgrading and transformation of the industry. The county is striving to double the industry's annual output value to 60 billion yuan by 2025.
