Five experts from the EROO rescue team from Cangnan county, Wenzhou, East China's Zhejiang province arrived departed for Türkiye on Feb 9 to carry out rescue work and provide help to quake-affected victims.
They joined the Chinese rescue team as soon as they landed at the Istanbul international airport on Friday.
Their equipment includes life detectors, steel bar speed breakers, cutting machines, hammer drills, personal protective equipment and emergency lighting equipment.
"In the face of disaster, there are no borders or races. When I saw the news about Türkiye and so many people suffering, my first thought was that I must organize our rescue team to participate in the international rescue and try our best to save more lives," said Lin Yuanzhun, head of the rescue team.
Turkish officials said as of Feb 9, some 13.5 million people were affected in an area spanning roughly 450 kilometers from Adana in the west to Diyarbakir in the east. The death toll in Türkiye has risen to 14,351.
Across a swathe of southern Türkiye, people sought temporary shelter and food in freezing winter weather and waited in anguish by piles of rubble where family and friends might still lie buried.
