Wenzhou Airport managed to handle 9,522 flights during the 40-day Spring Festival travel rush from Jan 7 to Feb 15, transporting a total of 1.17 million passengers, local media outlets reported.
The passenger flow was up 7.34 percent over last year's Spring Festival travel rush and reached about 70 percent of that of the pre-pandemic era.
The airport also handled a total of 8,271.2 metric tons of cargos during the period, realizing up 12.05 percent over last year's Spring Festival travel rush.
As this year's Spring Festival is the first in the post-COVID era, many people decided to travel back home for family reunion, triggering a surge in travel demand.
Wenzhou Airport hence offered more frequent flights to western and southern parts of China, such as Chengdu, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Guiyang, Haikou, Sanya, Guilin, Changchun and Wuhan.
A total of 96 flights to 80 domestic cities were available during the period. The average passenger occupancy rate reached 74.4 percent, up 10.55 percentage points from the previous year. The on-time rate of flight departure and arrival reached 95.46 percent and 96.48 percent, respectively.
