Eyewear enterprises in Ouhai district of Wenzhou in East China's Zhejiang province have worked to expand their overseas markets, with 68 local companies that attended the MIDO 2023 International Eyewear Show in Milan, Italy in early February securing tentative business contracts worth around $200 million, local media reported.

Wenzhou Langsheng Optics Co, an eyeglasses producer in Wenzhou, secured tentative purchasing orders worth around $1 million at the eyewear show. Zhang Jian, the company's business director, said that his company has been recruiting workers to fulfill the increasing number of orders, which will keep the company busy for the entire first quarter.

As a branding eyewear manufacturer with a history of 25 years, Langsheng Optics has established stable cooperative relations with a number of world-famous eyewear brand companies, and 90 percent of the optical lenses and sunglasses it designs and produces are exported to markets in Western Europe and North America.

During the eyewear show in Milan, the Langsheng business team successfully engaged with new customers and felt that the Chinese-made eyeglasses were well-liked in the international market, which encouraged them to invest more energy to produce high-end glasses of better quality.

"We hope that this year, we can break into more emerging markets, namely BRICS countries and countries along the Belt and Road, in order to secure a 15 percent growth in output value," Zhang said.
