March 12 marked the official start of the 2023 Wenzhou Talent Day activities, the third time that the city, a powerhouse of private economy in East China, has celebrated the day, local media outlets reported.
The event aimed to show respect, provide care for, inspire, and serve talented individuals so as to attract more outstanding talent to Wenzhou for innovation and entrepreneurship.
In February 2021, the Wenzhou government decided to set March 12 as "Wenzhou Talent Day", coinciding with Tree Planting Day, symbolizing that talent are the trees that contribute to urban development.
The opening ceremony saw four top talent and 15 high-caliber talent sign full-time contracts to work in Wenzhou. Ten projects that can meet the needs of these high-end personnel in terms of housing, healthcare, and their children's education were also launched at the event. It also saw the opening of the first "Overseas Science and Technology Workers' Home" in Zhejiang province.
Participants were also invited to attend the "Hometown of Chinese Mathematicians" Summit, the China International Sodium Ion Battery Frontier Technology and Industrial Development Forum, and the China Rui'an Graphene Frontier Application Technology Forum.
