A ship named SITC Qiuming recently arrived at the Zhuangyuanao terminal of Wenzhou Port, Zhejiang province carrying 18 metric tons of Vietnamese dragon fruits valued at 100,000 yuan ($14,500).

This is the first batch of fresh fruit to be imported at the port after the renovation of a designated supervision site for imported fruit. It is also a sign that the port is resuming its fruit imports after the COVID-19 pandemic brought them to a halt.

In recent years, Southeast Asian fruit has become popular with among domestic consumers for their low price and high quality. Wenzhou port enjoys favorable geographical conditions, making it one of the ideal entries for Southeast Asian fruit.

Since January 2013, when the Zhuangyuanao terminal was approved as a designated port of entry for fruit imports, Wenzhou Port Group had been developing the business until it was suspended due to the epidemic.

With the adjustment of epidemic control policies, Wenzhou Port Group renovated and upgraded the designated supervision site for imported fruit, providing more convenient services for customs clearance and inspection, and further reducing the trade costs of warehousing, logistics, and other aspects of customs clearance for enterprises

At the same time, the group is developing more routes in Southeast Asia and taking full advantages of direct shipping to provide customers with more efficient and better logistics services.
