About 90 domestic and overseas volunteers were appointed as Wenzhou ancient city cultural promoters at Zhongshan Park in Lucheng district on May 26, marking the 120-day countdown to the 19th Asian Games.
During the Games, the promoters will share Wenzhou's image with the world in a friendly manner.
"As a local resident, I will take responsibility for spreading the Asian Games spirit and Wenzhou ancient city culture," said Zhu Songsheng, a Chinese volunteer representative.
"I hope that I can give more people from abroad an in-depth understanding of Wenzhou," said Craig Blacklock, an American teacher.
Among these promoters, the oldest is over 70, while the youngest is less than 10. A dozen volunteers from countries around world participated in the event as well. They will serve as tour guides, introducing scenic spots and venues, distributing Asian Games related materials, providing emergency aid and maintaining order.
The cultural promoters are also members of Wenzhou's international volunteer team, which was set up in 2018. The team currently has more than 500 foreign members.
