The Zhejiang Province Eco-environment-oriented Development model promotion conference was held in Dongtou district in Wenzhou on May 25, local media outlets reported.

The "Dongtou bays · Sea garden" EOD project, which is the country's first marine ecological restoration EOD project, shared its practical experience at the conference.

The Dongtou EOD project involves 15 projects in four categories, among which nine projects broke ground this year with investment of 340 million yuan ($47.96 million). Next, the district will further carry out the EOD model in order to explore the island ecological value of national coastal areas.

For many years, Dongtou has been awarded as one of the country's top 10 "beautiful national marine protection zones" and was among the second batch of practice and innovation bases for the "Lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets" philosophy. It was also selected as part of the first batch of beautiful bays, which brought significant benefits to its ecology, economy and society.

The "Dongtou bays · Sea garden" EOD project's construction period is four years. Forty percent of the project funds will be used for sub-projects related to ecological and environmental governance, creating needed environmental infrastructure and solving problems such as sea drift garbage, bare mountains and more.

The EOD model is based on ecological protection and environmental governance, pushing forward regional comprehensive development by special industrial operation so that environment governance projects with strong ecological benefits can integrate with relevant industries that provide strong economic benefits.
